Several Washington officials spoke at the memorial service for the late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. The speakers lauded Justice Marshall’s pioneering work for civil rights during the 1940's and 1950's, and also noted Justice Marshall’s sense of humor and fairness in his daily life. A choir from Howard University sang hymns in between remarks by the speakers. The service was attended by President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and their wives. close
