Senator Chris Dodd( D-CT) and Senator Nancy Kassebaum (R-KS) debated S.5, the Family and Medical Leave Act. The legislation would require companies with over 50 employees to allow their employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave for newborn children or sick family members. Opponents of the bill noted the high cost of the legislation to employers. close
