Peter Boettke, National Fellow at the Hoover Institution, spoke about Russia in the post-Gorbachev era. He talked about the current political and social situation in the Russian republic, where opponents of democracy have clashed with President Yeltsin. Mr. Boettke called “the establishment of trust” with the Russian people the government’s biggest challenge. He cited the policies of Stalin and Gorbachev as creating a long history of distrust among the people. close
