House Minority Leader Representative Robert Michel (R-IL) and other Republican members of the House spoke in a news conference to announce the creation of a task force to investigate reforms to allow for greater debate of legislation in the House of Representatives. The members complained that House rules tended to rush legislation through the House without sufficient time for debate. Representative Gerald Solomon (R-NY) led the new task force. The members also discussed their perspectives on the first 100 days of the Clinton administration. close
