Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair General Joseph Dunford, and Defense Comptroller Michael McCord testified at a House Armed Services Committee on the department’s fiscal year 2017 budget request. Secretary Carter began his testimony by condemning the terrorists attacks that occurred earlier in the day in Brussels, saying the U.S. stands in strong solidarity with the people of Belgium. He also addressed the strategy to combat ISIS*, Russian aggression, North Korea’s nuclear program and military readiness.
