Law professor and historian Ed Larson talked about the origins of the position of the vice president of the United States and the role of the men who first held that office. He described the early convoluted method of selecting the vice president and argued that before the 12th Amendment the office of vice president did not have substantial executive or legislative power.

“The Curious Original Intent of the Vice Presidency” was part of the Pepperdine Law Review Symposium 2016, “The United States Vice Presidency: In History, Practice, and the Future.” close
