In the televised portion of the committee hearing, Senate Rules members spoke on the petition by a group of Oregon voters to unseat Senator Bob Packwood on charges of defrauding Oregon voters. The petition claimed Senator Packwood lied to reporters prior to his 1992 election to the Senate concerning charges of sexual harassment brought against him by current and former staffers. The Senate Rules Committee voted to dismiss the petition. close
