U2 lead singer Bono and Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken were among the witnesses at a hearing on resources needed to combat violent extremism. The witnesses said the United States and its allies need to boost their aid to foreign nations as a way to combat the poverty and poor living-conditions that have been driving some people to radicalize and carry out violent attacks in Western Europe.

After the conclusion of the hearing, Bono spoke with reporters, senators, and others in attendance. close
