Vernon Dahmer, Jr., and Ellie Dahmer talked about the life of slain civil rights activist Vernon Dahmer. They shared the story of the night their home was attacked by members of the Ku Klux Klan in January 1966 and spoke about the impact his death had on the city of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Vernon Dahmer, Jr., is Mr. Dahmer’s eldest son, and Ellie Dahmer is Mr. Dahmer’s widow.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, from March 24-30 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
