Reporter Cristina Marcos talked about Representative Sean Maloney’s (D-NY) amendment to the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act intended to reverse text added to the bill to overturn President Obama’s executive order on discrimination by federal contractors.

Then video clips from the House floor were shown: The previous day Representative Maloney spoke about his amendment to remove the “anti-gay bias” in the bill. On May 19, 2016, there was debate on the bill. During the voting, people on the floor were cheering as the amendment was being passed, but the vote was held open by the chair before members started switching votes, leading to voiced disapproval by Democrats. Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) called for a parliamentary inquiry because the votes were not publicly switched. Later Representatives Hoyer and Pete Sessions (R-TX) engaged in a colloquy about the procedure on the Maloney amendment.
