At the White House daily briefing, Josh Earnest said President’s Obama’s sign-off on expanding military operations in Afghanistan does not foreshadow whether the drawdown expected later in 2016 would move ahead or not. Mr. Earnest added that the president had not made a decision on troop levels and would continue to get briefings and seek advice from commanders on the ground.

At the start of the briefing Bret McGruk gave an update on progress in countering ISIS.*
