Settlement of Provo, Utah
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Provo, Utah, from June 4-9 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Professor J. Spencer Fluhman talked about the settlement of Provo, Utah, in 1849 by 33 Mormon families. After moving west in 1847, Mormon pioneers first settled Salt Lake City, Utah. They later began setting up satellite communities, such as Provo, to the south.
