President Obama delivered a statement on the security situation in Afghanistan. He said the situation remained “precarious,” and announced that the U.S. would maintain 8,400 troops in Afghanistan through the end of his presidency with a continued focus on training and advising the Afghan military. Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Joseph Dunford were in attendance. close
