Sean Spicer briefed reporters and responded to questions on a range of issues. He told reporters the administration felt confident that there would not be a government shutdown at the end of the week. Congress had until midnight April 28, 2017, to debate legislation that would continue to fund the federal government. Other topics included pending health care legislation, the U.S.-Mexico border wall, and the president’s upcoming tax plan. Also appearing at the top of the briefing were U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley, who spoke about U.S. foreign policy, and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who announced new sanctions against Syria for its use of chemical weapons. close
