Wayne Fanebust talked about his book Outlaw Dakota, in which he tells the story of Judge Shannon, the man sent by President Grant to tame the frontier and help form a young United States. During the era of the American Frontier, South Dakota was a lawless land where criminals ran unchecked and any justice came in the form of mob lynchings.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2017 LCV Cities Tour” in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from September 7-13, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Midco cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
