President Clinton and Supreme Court nominee Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg spoke during a ceremony in the White House to mark Judge Ginsburg’s swearing-in as Supreme Court Justice. Following the swearing-in conducted by Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, Justice Ginsburg acknowledged the honor and recalled forerunners in the advancement of women in the judicial system. President Clinton followed her remarks with a speech noting the qualifications of Justice Ginsburg and thanking her sponsors in Congress. The ceremony was attended by members of Congress and former Supreme Court Justices Warren Burger and William Brennan. close
