The House Republican Conference sponsored a hearing on the costs of government regulations on the average American and American business. Economists and public policy scholars spoke on the burden of excessive red tape on small and large businesses, and the price of regulations in terms of jobs, wages and reduced business activity. They also discussed the “Reinventing Government” program of government reform to be introduced later in the month by Vice President Gore. close
