Witnesses testified on the ongoing efforts of the Trade Promotion Coordinating Committee. Secretary Brown stressed the importance of international trade to the growth of the U.S. economy. He stated that the anticipated goal is for $ one trillion of exports by the year 2000, and that the committee’s focus is on small- and medium-sized businesses. The establishment of one-stop government shops to coordinate export information would be set up in Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and Baltimore on January 1, 1994. The number one priority of the committee was stated as “job creation” for the American people. close
