First lady Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke to the Women’s Council of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. Her speech covered the achievements of women in the 103rd Congress and the need for a more diverse Congress. The first lady was introduced by Senators George Mitchell (D-ME) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Following her remarks, Ms. Clinton was joined on stage by administration officials and female legislators in a dance to Aretha Franklin’s “Respect.” close
