Ms. Barta discussed her book, Perot and His People: Disrupting the Balance of Political Power, published by The Summit Group of Fort Worth. After several months of interviewing Perot supporters around the U.S., she wrote about “Perotism,” which is neither conservative nor liberal, but a very enthusiastic grassroots campaign to improve politics and government in the U.S. Ms. Barta believes the reason Ross Perot dropped out of the presidential campaign in July 1992 was because he had always considered himself a humanist, but political writers had begun to imply that he was a racist. The support of his followers continued after the November 1992 election. close
