Participants discussed ethnic and racial bias in the American justice system. In his opening, the moderator, Mr. Jones, stated the eradication of any bias as the purpose of the meeting. Mr. Ide followed and said that the greatest burden for correcting racial inequalities falls on minority bar associations. Ms. Tingle spoke on the efforts being made in her organization to represent Native Americans fairly. Addressing the concerns of African-Americans, Ms. Brown likened racism to an infection in our blood. In his speech, Mr. Sun said there were racial infrastructure problems in the judicial system. Mr. Caraballo related anecdotes of his legal career illustrating racism. close
