During a weekend-long congressional student summit, students participated in a number of government activities including election to congressional offices, committee assignments, and majority/minority assignments. The program is an effort to encourage young people to become involved in government and understand the issues in the current debate. During the summit, Representative David Bonior (D-MI) spoke to the students about his role in Congress and the activities they might find if they run for office. At the conclusion of the summit, Representative Bonior was interviewed concerning the summit and the possibility that one of these students might someday run against him. close
