President Clinton participated in a televised town hall meeting with citizens from Kansas City, Missouri and surrounding areas. The meeting originated from KCTV-TV studios in Kansas City. The President reviewed and took questions on his health care reform plan, focusing on the key principles of the plan: guaranteeing private insurance for all Americans; ensuring choice of doctors and health plans; outlawing unfair insurance practices; and ensuring coverage for Medicare, long-term care, and prescription drugs. The President stood in the center of a TV studio surrounded on all sides by the audience. At times during the event, the President sat on a stool and made comments using a hand-held microphone. He took questions from four different locations including the studio audience and interviewers. close
