In a speech honoring the 1994 Victim Service Award Recipients, President Clinton praised the end of partisan gridlock over the Brady Bill. He announced attempts to get weapons of destruction, semi-automatic assault weapons, off the streets as well. The President explained that he believed in the right to bear arms, but with freedoms come responsibility. He asserted that the Congress has a responsibility to the nation to save lives by taking those types of weapons off the street. Media question following the President’s speech centered on China, Bosnia, and Crime Legislation. close
