At a press conference this afternoon, President Clinton addressed and took questions on the crisis in Haiti, the challenge it poses to our national interests, and the new steps he is taking to respond. The President advised that the United States will take steps to increase pressure on Haiti’s military while addressing the suffering caused by their misrule. Further, the United States will “step up” its diplomatic efforts, intensify sanctions, and adapt its migration policy. close
