During remarks at Pointe Du Hoc in Normandy, France, President Clinton reflected on the accomplishments of soldiers during the D-Day campaign and noted the importance of carrying on the work they began 50 years ago. "Let us begin by teaching our young people about the villainy that started this war and the valor that ended it," said the President. Emphasizing that “still there are cliffs to scale,” the President stated that we must work to contain the world’s most deadly weapons and maintain strong alliances and families, cohesive societies, and economies that promote cooperation rather than conflict. This address came moments before the President’s address at the U.S. National Cemetery overlooking the beaches of Normandy. close
