Members discussed allowing regional Bell phone companies the ability to sell long distance telephone service and manufacture equipment. Also included is telephone and cable companies can provide services in competing markets. The bill passed.

Members also debated amendments to HR 4606 which funds Medicare, Social Security and AIDS education and research. close
