Senators Bob Dole, Bob Packwood, and Dan Coats called a news conference to address the media concerning the Mitchell compromise health care reform legislation. They criticized parts of the plan and saluted the majority leader for much of the compromise legislation. Senator Mitchell’s bill aims to cover 95 percent of Americans by the year 2000. If the goal for coverage is not met, employers and employees would split the cost of coverage. The bill also provides for coverage of poor families, pregnant women, children and others. close
