WTVR-TV in Richmond, Va, reported on former Virginia Governor Douglas Wilder’s announcement that he was withdrawing from the Virginia U.S Senate race. Gov. Wilder, an independent U.S. Senate candidate, cited polls which showed him trailing behind Democratic incumbent Charles Robb and Republican candidate Oliver North.
