Ms. Drew talked about her recent book, On the Edge: The Clinton Presidency, published by Touchstone Books. Ms. Drew discussed the President’s first 18 months in office, as well as the transition prior to Inauguration Day. Ms. Drew noted that President Clinton possessed a coherent vision for the U.S. and had accomplished a number of things during the early days of his administration, but she also asserted that the Clinton Administration often failed to adequately express its goals and achievements. She discussed some of the Administration’s “growing pains,” including the resignation of Defense Secretary Les Aspin. Ms. Drew also spoke about the process of researching and writing the book, the difficulties of gaining access to political officials, and her past experiences as a journalist. close
