Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. Mr. Seib previewed President Clinton’s State of the Union address. Mayor Granger talked about Fort Worth’s ecnomic problems with losing military bases and industries. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Aronson and Mr. Judge discussed the headlines and talked about President Clinton’s State of the Union address. During the roundtable, Governor Whitman, who would be responding to President Clinton’s State of the Union address, talked about her speech later that evening. In the next segment, Representatives Barton and Schroeder talked about their opposing perspectives on the Balanced Budget Amendment. close
