After the House passed the Balanced Budget Amendment, the authors of the final version and other members of Congress talked to reporters about the floor debate and the provisions of the bill. Today the House debated several different versions of a Balanced Budget constitutional amendment under a Rule stipulating that the version receiving the most votes would be the one presented for final passage. The version offered by Stenholm and Schafer, with no three-fifths vote tax provision, was passed.
