Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspaper; interviews with journalists and legislatures. In studio guests include, the San Francisco Chronicles Carolyn Lochhead, who talked about the status of the Balanced Budget Amendment in the Senate. Later in the program, James Pinkerton, of George Washington University and Kathleen Sylvester with the Progressive Policy Institute, discussed headlines from various papers across the country. Representative Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) spoke by phone about the vote in the House on U.S aid to Mexico. The program also included a point-counter point discussion, Steve McFarland, of the Christian Legal Society, and Elliot Mincberg, of People for the American Way, discussed the relationship between church and state. Lew Ketcham served as moderator for the discussion. Mayor Victor Ashe of Knoxville, TN talked in studio about crime block grants to states.
