Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Andrew Taylor talked about Line Item Veto legislation in the Senate. Betty Friedan and Cathy Young took part in the newspaper roundtable and discussed women’s issues. Byron York wrote the American Spectator cover story on ethics charges against House Speaker Newt Gingrich. In the point-counterpoint section, Republican Senator Daniel Coats R-Indiana supported the Line-Item Veto legislation while Democratic Senator Bill Bradley D-New Jersey opposed it. close
