Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Healey talked about the budget debate in Congress. Mr. Morin talked about the Washington Post poll about public approval of Republican budget cutting plans. In the newspaper roundtable, Governor Graves and Rep. Clayton discussed current policy issues, including Medicare cuts and the role of the federal government.
