President Clinton spoke to supporters in Chicago at a fundraising gala. After explaining that his relationship with Chicago began when he met the first lady’s father while they were courting, the president thanked city officials for maintaining such a strong partnership with his administration. President Clinton celebrated a great day for America by announcing the completion of a trade agreement with Japan and the meeting of American and Russian crafts in space. The president said our nation had gotten through some difficult issues --crime, unemployment, education-- but now it is time to face the true difficulty of bringing the American people together. He explained how his current agenda, as well as programs he would initiate in a second term, supports a chance for all citizens to succeed. close
