The Senate agreed to S. Res. 38, to provide for the appointment of a Committee to receive and to report evidence with respect to articles of impeachment against Judge Alcee L. Hastings. The Senate passed S. 20, to amend title 5, United States Code, to strengthen the protections available to Federal employees against prohibited personnel practices. The Senate continued consideration of the Articles of Impeachment against Judge Alcee L. Hastings of the United States District Court for the South District of Florida. A unanimous consent agreement was reached providing for consideration of the nomination of Richard B. Cheney, of Wyoming, to be Secretary of Defense. close
