President Clinton and the vice president discussed family television with a group of television executives. The president has proposed an amendment to the Telecommunications Bill to require that all televisions be manufactured with a “v-chip” which would enable parents to block out channels or programs they do not want their children to watch. The panelists expressed concern about the violence and sexual content of many television programs and suggested ways of improving this without losing commercial sponsorship. close
