The U.S. Senate reconvened continued debate on HR.4 the Family Self-Sufficiency Act which sought to restore the American family, reduce illegitimacy, control welfare spending and reduce welfare dependence. Members debated and voted on a number of amendments to the bill, but did not pass the final legislation. At the completion of the day’s business, the Senate stood in recess until 9:15am the following morning. close
