In his weekly address to the nation, President Bill Clinton talks about the budget reconciliation process in Congress. Obstacles in reaching a compromise on a balanced budget stem from two different approaches to the issue, the president said. He claimed his motivation to be the restoration of the American dream. Republicans on the other hand, the president reported, are working to hurt the middle class through “back door” tax increases. The president also stated that his proposal for a balanced budget is truly in line with the fundamental values of our nation. close
