Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. King talked about the morning headlines including the upcoming presidential election. In the newspaper round- table, Mr. Podhoretz and Mr. Walker talked about current issues including free television time for political candidates and issues pertinent to the upcoming elections. In the final segment, Mr. Birnbaum talked about his book Madhouse which deals with the difficulties of working in the White House. close
