Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, viewers called in to talk about the morning headlines. In the newspaper roundtable, Rep. Sam Brownback, R-KS, and Senator David Pryor, D-AR, reacted to current issues including Bob Dole’s retirement from the Senate and budget issues. Kathryne Beebe talked by telephone about her political views and future plans. In part 3 of 5 part series, on the Pentagon Papers, James Goodale and A.M. Rosenthal talked about their experiences in the matter. In the next segment, Governor Tony Knowles, D-AK, and Alaskan residents talked by remote connection about life in Alaska and the state itself. close
