Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Eisenstadt talked about the morning headlines including Mr. Dole’s change in stance on the gun ban issues. In the newspaper roundtable, Rep. Hamilton and Senator Shelby talked about current issues including foreign affairs. Ms. Bender talked by telephone about her political views. In the next segment, Mr. Makovsky and Ms. Wright talked about Prime Minister Netanyahu’s visit to the U.S. In the final segment, Mr. Fowler participated by remote connection from the School Bus in Kansas City, Missouri with Rep. Kennelly who was outside the U.S. Capitol. They discussed Democratic and Republican platform issues. close
