Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Dunham talked about the morning headlines including campaign finance reform. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Oliphant and Ms. Winkler talked about current issues including welfare reform and the presidential campaigns. In the next segment, Ms. Carlin talked about the importance of the presidential debates. Mr. Wrighton and Mr. Volkmann talked by remote connection about the history of and preparation for the presidential debates at Washington University. In the final segment, Governor Miller and Governor Caperton talked by remote connection about the National Governor’s Association annual meeting being held in Puerto Rico. close
