Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Balz talked about the morning headlines including Mr. Dole’s proposed 15 percent income tax cut. In the next segment, Mayor Kirk talked about the presidential campaigns. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Hertzberg and Ms. O’Beirne talked about current issues including the Dole campaign and its plans. Mr. Anders talked by telephone about his political views and upcoming first presidential vote. In the final segment, Mr. Ford and Rep. Tauzin talked by remote connection about the Republican National Committee in San Diego. close
