Ms. Hernandez spoke about the role of the Latino community in the U.S. political system and its growing visibility in U.S. society. She mentioned how misunderstood the community is in the U.S. and that many of the perceptions of society and individuals are based on bias and stereotype. She also touched on several topics in which the Latino citizens are keenly interested, including affirmative action, immigration and affirmative action.
