Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Ms. Hume and Ms. Stoddard discussed morning headline stories and Republican Convention issues. In the next segment, Mr. Dowle talked about BBC coverage of the Republican Convention. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Mason and Ms. Schlafly debated campaign issues, especially social policy, and reflected on the previous evening’s Republican Convention speeches. In the next segment, Mr. Leubsdorf and Ms. Page also discussed the convention. In the last segment, Mr. Herrington talked about the Republican Convention thus far and campaign issues which are the most important in California. close
