The president and vice president talked with reporters about the vice-president’s just-released report from the Aviation Safety and Security Commission. The commission was created by President Clinton after the ValuJet and TWA airline crashes. Commission members and administration officials formed a semi-circle behind the president’s desk. Both the president and vice president answered questions from the press. The vice president detailed proposed solutions offered by the commission. President Clinton thanked the commission for its worked and talked about reducing the risks of terrorism through international cooperation, stronger law enforcement and improved security at airports. He said the commission recommendations will be put into effect immediately through an executive order. close
