Participants discussed the importance of education and training to African-American women especially in the context of welfare reform. They examined several ways in which women were receiving better training and therefore better employment opportunities and how these programs could be fostered. They also criticized various persons and groups for trying to reduce education funding. This was part of a conference on challenges facing African-American women in the next century. close
