Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with newsmakers, journalists and legislators; and viewer comments by telephone, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Thomma and Mr. Straub talked about current headlines, especially President Clinton’s visit to Cincinnati and Bob Dole’s visit to Villanova. In the next segment, Ms. Dowd talked about her article in Money magazine about how much voters agree with President Clinton and Bob Dole on economic issues. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Besharov and Ms. Tucker discussed current headlines and various public policy issues, including welfare reform. In the last segment, Ms. Geyer, who recently authored a new book, Americans No More, talked about immigration issues. close
